AT the End of 1st leg of ISL: Key Pointers Phase I

As you all know that today 11th Jan 2021, the first leg of ISL 2020 is finished and let us have a look at the key pointers to take on. We will try to analyse the Teams firstly according to the Table standings & then, in general, the key points which are for all the teams.

Without any further ado, let's have a look at the points table now.

From the Point table, it is evident why Mumbai City is at the table. MCFC has won 8 of their 10 games, while they started their campaign with their only loss with NEUFC, and also drew in the mid of the 10 games with Jamshedpur FC.

Brand of Football: MCFC has started playing the Sergio Lobera brand of Football, which is of one of main Spanish flavour, is on passing football. They already have 4961 passes from 10 matches, the 2nd highest in the tournament. But what they have also shown is a good compact midfield who can block opponent attacks & play on passes relentlessly unless they score. And most of all they don't stop the attacking Football once they score, they continue that through-out the match, which makes viewers of the match happy with their brand of Football.

The second team  ATKMB is also coached by Antonio Habas Spanish origin coach but with a completely different brand of Football. They have lost twice with JFC & MCFC and has drawn twice with HFC & CFC

Brand of Football: They plays a game of waiting and keeping the defence compact. And try to score with Quick-build counter-attacks and set-pieces throughout most of the matches they have played in this ISL. Only against FC Goa match, we have seen ATKMB playing some very high pressing football and they try to keep the clean sheets for them. They have the highest number of clean sheets numbering 7 which shows the enormous strength of the defence line-up they have. Even the table Toppers Mumbai are being them on that. In adding Sandesh Jinghan to their squad has given them the additional maturity in the defence.  But despite having the best of the players of India their brand of football is not going to add any more members looking at their type of Football, but whatever works for the team is better. And when are better in one scenario, let them play that.

Manuel Marquez Roca another Spanish Coach can for Hyderabad FC can easily boost for one thing. His contingent of Indian players who have gathered the lime-light. Hyderabad has won 4 games, drew 3, & lost 3 of their games.

Brand of Football: Hyderabad shows a mixed scenario of play. They have a very compact and competent mid-field, along-with some best wingers of India now, and they run havoc through the opponent half. But while facing the teams who play too many passes in-between themselves they have been found themselves wanting and it seems they lost in those games almost by surrendering. It seems they need to look into this aspect to get higher into the league table.

Juan Fernando, another Spanish and another Spanish minded attacking believer in Football also showed his team, FC GOA can play short passes and go for the goal to kill the game.

Brand of Football: Fernando also showed his team to play short passes and go for the Goal. It is evident from the stat that they have the highest number of passes in the tournament and also the 3rd highest number of goals in the tournament. And the two new finds in the team, Igor Angulo, & Ortiz has worked wonder for their team. But it seems they forget they have to defend also, in which they are not looking to be great. Once they can make the defence a little bit more compact they can be worth the title contenders too.

The Scottish Coach Owen Coyle has shown his magic in last year with Chennaiyin & this year also we hoped to see the same when he mentored Jamshedpur FC when they stopped both MCFC & ATKMB. The not only drew with MCFC but also defeated ATKMB.

Brand of Football: Owen Coyle seems to showcase his brand of football as the changes of the players and the scenario it seems. While in the previous year we have seen all-out attacking Force to reckon with, this year Jamshedpur FC is superbly defending with their Hatley, Eze on defence & attacking vis Valskis. And the attacks are superbly supported by the two-wingers who knows the exact position to keep the Ball. And it is evident from the number of crosses they put in opposition defence, which is 167, the highest in this ISL so far. And while looking at their Goal tally, it is seen they have the same numbers, which is 10. We were seeing that Jamshedpur FC have been making progress in every game and after the break the first game they played they seemed a little rusty on their ultimate position Goalkeeping. And believe us when a Gaolkeeper makes silly mistakes what Rehnesh did on the last match, you can have all the best players in the world, but will never win. Undoubtedly the worst Gaolkeeper while it comes to being consistent. So if they can keep a check on this Jamshedpur FC can also be a team to reckon with which they have already shown.

We look forward to hearing from you on what you think of the analysis we have done and we don't mind inputs and intakes to understand in more details...
